Why build your own garden room?
DIY Garden Room Kits are ideal for customers who want to build their own garden rooms using pre-manufactured elements, including Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), making it easier to build your own,high-quality garden room, providing additional living space and adding value to your home.
These kits have grown in popularity due to their low cost and the ease of assembly for the competent DIYer. They also offer the opportunity to customise the building by adding unique features and so presentthe perfect solution for someone who wants an affordable, off-the-shelf structure that can be tailored to their own taste.
So, what’s included and how much do they cost?
The short answer is that it depends on which kit, spec and extras you choose. Lucy Searle of Grand Designs Magazine estimates you can “expect to pay between £800 and £1,600 per square metre” fora DIY garden room. This demonstrates the exceptional value represented by Vivid Pod’s kits which start at just £588 per square metre.
Vivid Pods currently offer two kit types:
→ The Starter DIY Kit
This kit provides customers with an insulated structure, allowing you to complete the room internally and externally to your desired finish.
Optional extras include windows, doors and support with laying foundations as well as tool and labour hire.
The Starter Kit is ideal for those who wish to put their own spin on the structure and really make it their own.
Starter Kits are available from £3,671 for a 2.4m x 2.6m room
→ The Complete DIY Kit
This kit includes everything you need to build your own garden room, including cladding, laminate flooring and roofing. Customers can choose from stunning Thermowood, UK Cedar or Composite cladding.
The optional extras remain the same as for the DIY Starter Kit.
Complete Kits are available from £10,726 for a 2.4m x 2.6m room
A note on windows and doors
We should mention that if you are considering sourcing your own windows and doors, we recommend you choose high quality products to protectthe water tightness and overall weatherproofing of your garden room.
What actually are SIPS?
SIPS are a modern structural component used in construction and consist of a sheet of rigid insulation foam sandwiched between two sheetsof oriented standard boards (OSB3).
Vivid Pods’ SIPs are high quality and purpose-built using FSC certified board and the highest quality closed cell EPS insulation.
What models are available?
SIP kits are currently available for our popular Southville and Redland garden rooms.
The Southville
The Southville is a large but compact pod which offers up to 3m² of functional space. The small footprint of this model makes it a great choice for the smaller garden.
